WHAT WAS MY GOAL FOR THIS WEEK??

My goal for this week was to ensure that I was able to understand every module we touched and also to ensure I completed all tasks given to me so that I was able to produce a very informative reflection of what I did in week one.

WEEK ONE: ROLE OF TECHNOLOGY AND MEDIA IN EDUCATION

On Tuesday 12th September, I had my first EDET class where I met my energetic tutor Mrs. Terry-Ann Marsh-Roberts. During this class we were given our few first set of tasks. 

The tasks were :

1.     Research using any media what was mind mapping in groups on two/three.

2.     To construct a way to communicate the information found to the rest of our fellow class  

Steps I took to complete this task: 

1.     First I selected my group members, I was a bit shy so I selected the two girls who sat at the both sides of me.

2.     We began exchanging ideas of what mind-mapping was thought to be. 

3.     We then used an android smartphone device to research what a mind map really was. 

4.     After researching and we believed to have found the information, we pooled our thoughts together and chose a topic "Media" to use as an example for demonstration." 

5.     I drew a mind map in my exercise book so demonstration and then I took up the challenge to demonstrate my group's idea to the rest of the class. 

CHALLENGES

1. 1.     Having a Wi-fi connection for research purposes.
   2.     Talking in front of my new course-mates

How I found a solution to my challenges:

1.    I was unable to find a Wi-fi connection for research purposes, however I overcame this challenge by asking one of my group members if she had mobile data available so that we are able to retrieve the information needed.

2.    I am a bit shy sometimes, especially that I am new to this environment. I found it very nerve-wracking to explain my group's idea, however I overcame this challenge by taking a few moments to breathe in and out and then I was able to deliver our information successfully.

Conclusion

After the class activities was over,the tutor began closing her lesson with a few more important points in the roles of Technology and Media and Education.

The first main point is that stood out to me was that all the roles of Technology and Media and Education "ENHANCES LEARNING." 

Here are some more examples of what stood out to me during the lesson;

• Students learn differently (diversity)
• Helping students Improve
• Clarity
• Being Holistic
• Efficiency in Learning

In conclusion to today's lesson, I learnt that mind mapping could be a great way of portraying information for my students when I return back into the classroom and would definitely help them in understanding various topics a lot better. I benefited from this information as I can now know how use this method for future presentations here at the teacher's college institution or at any institute I may attend in the future as it will be a great way to transmit information to an individual who learns visually for there are various forms that a persons can learn by.
